Injury shock for St. Johnstone: Ikpaezu out due to accident

St. Johnstone suffered an injury shock before the start of the season after Uche Ikpeazu was ruled out until October due to a freak injury.

The 29-year-old striker, who joined the Saints from Port Vale this summer, had an accident at home and had to undergo knee surgery.

And manager Craig Levein has announced that the striker, who played under him at Hearts, is now likely to be out for the next four months.

“He twisted his knee, that’s bloody law,” he told St Johnstone’s website.

“He suffered a small cartilage injury and had to have surgery. Normally something like this takes three to four months, which is a real blow for us, but it’s been three or four weeks now, so we’ll see him in September or October.”

“He’s frustrated, but it’s an accident, that’s just how it is.”
