Death of 9-year-old girl in Montverde is being investigated as homicide

MONTERREY, Florida. – Lake County officials are treating the death of a 9-year-old girl as a homicide, at least until the medical examiner completes his report, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said Jamaria Sessions died June 17 at a home in the 16,000 block of Harbor Oak Drive in Montverde.

Investigators did not comment on the possible cause of the girl’s death or whether anyone might face charges.

Deputies said they would provide further updates once the autopsy is completed, which could take weeks.
