Minor girl gang raped, 3 people arrested: police

Baramulla, June 24: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was raped by three men in a rented apartment in Srinagar.

The victim hails from Pattan area of ​​Baramulla district in north Kashmir, while the accused hail from the same area and were arrested by the police.

A police official said the victim’s parents filed a complaint at Pattan police station on Wednesday that their minor daughter had left home for work on June 19 and had not returned since then.

Following the written complaint by the parents of the victims, the Pattan police constituted a team of police officials to investigate the case. On June 20, the Pattan police managed to trace the girl and recorded her statement. In her statement describing her ordeal, the victim stated that on June 19, when she left her home to go to work, she was intercepted and abducted by three persons who took her to Srinagar and kept her in a rented accommodation.

In her statement, she stated that she was gang-raped by the three accused and that they dropped her off in Pattan the next day.

Following the statement of the victim, the Pattan police under the supervision of Khalid Fayaz, the Station House Officer of Pattan, swung into action and arrested the three persons involved in the heinous crime. An FIR bearing number 219 of 2024 was lodged at Pattan police station under Section 363, 376 of the POSCO Act.

An official of Pattan police said that the rented apartment where the heinous crime took place belongs to one of the accused. He said further investigation has been initiated.
