EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Monday started with hot temperatures but lower humidity. Skies will remain clear Monday night as temperatures drop to near 21 degrees. Southerly winds will bring more moisture to the Tri-State area on Tuesday, and we’ll reach temperatures above 35 degrees – the hottest day of the year so far. The combination of extreme heat and humidity can push the heat index to 40 degrees or more, so I’ve added a First Alert Weather Day for dangerous heat for Tuesday. A cold front and thunderstorms will move down from the north late into Tuesday night. Some strong to severe storms are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday. Localized heavy precipitation may also be a concern, so a First Alert Weather Day for severe storms/flash floods has been established for Wednesday. The weather will calm down on Thursday and Friday with highs above 30 degrees on Thursday and then above 35 degrees on Friday. Saturday will be very hot again with highs of 35 degrees and a chance of thunderstorms. The storms may continue until Sunday, with highs remaining around 90 degrees.
