Princess Anne was hospitalised after suffering a concussion following an ‘incident’ at her country house; the King is being kept constantly updated

On June 24, unexpected news arrived from Buckingham Palace. The Princess Royal, also known as Princess Anne, had been hospitalized after suffering minor injuries and concussion in an “incident” at her country home in London. Her husband Timothy Laurence and their children were also present at the estate when the incident occurred.

Details of Princess Anne’s hospital stay

On Monday, June 24, Buckingham Palace released a statement on the Princess’s health, saying: “The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate last night. No further details of the incident have been given.”

The statement also said that Anne was under observation at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precautionary measure, but is expected to make a “full and speedy recovery.” According to the statement, King Charles has been kept fully informed of Princess Royal’s progress.

He and the entire royal family send the princess “their warmest love and best wishes for a speedy recovery”.

She was reportedly walking in Gatbombe Park when she sustained some minor injuries in the “incident.” Emergency services arrived at the scene and immediately took her to hospital, accompanied by her husband. Her children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, were also on the property at the time of the incident.

Princess Anne misses royal engagements

The Princess Royal’s scheduled royal appointments will be postponed to comply with doctor’s instructions. “Her Royal Highness apologises to anyone who may experience any inconvenience or disappointment as a result,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.

Her royal engagements included the Japanese Imperial couple’s state visit to the UK, which King Charles will host this year. The event will go ahead as planned, but Her Royal Highness “will not be able to attend the state banquet tomorrow,” the spokesman added.

She was also scheduled to visit Canada this week, but medical advice says she will not be able to fly. Princess Anne will be observed in hospital for a few more days and will probably return home this week. The palace spokesman said she was “recovering well and in a comfortable condition.”

Princess Royal is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and is often praised as the hardest working member of the royal family. She loves horse riding and recently took part in the Trooping the Colour on June 15 on horseback to celebrate King Charles’ official birthday.
