SAFD: Puppy killed and car destroyed in garage fire in South Side home

SAN ANTONIO – A garage fire at a home on the city’s south side killed a puppy and destroyed a car early Monday morning, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

The fire was reported around 5:50 a.m. from a home in the 200 block of West Dickson Avenue, near Pleasanton Road and Southeast Military Drive.

When the firefighters arrived, flames were blazing from the house. They managed to extinguish the fire quickly and without incident.

Firefighters said the fire started in the garage and destroyed a car. A woman was sleeping in the house when her dog woke her up. Firefighters said they went around the house but couldn’t find the fire. A puppy was killed by the flames.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. A fire investigation team will try to determine the exact cause.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department website, a total of 14 units responded to the emergency call.

An estimate of damage to the house was not given. No injuries were reported.
