Trade idea sees Philadelphia Phillies giving up massive haul for Kyle Tucker

The Philadelphia Phillies will scour the market to see what improvements they can make before the July 30 trade deadline.

Right now, with so many teams vying for a playoff spot, there don’t appear to be many front offices willing to ship away some of their impact players, which will limit what the Phillies will be able to do .

There have been rumors that this front office would be interested in adding another outfielder to their ranks.

Following Johan Rojas’ demotion to Triple-A, those whispers have turned into a statement, despite many people, including manager Rob Thomson, expecting the young center fielder to be back with their Major League team this season.

Any additions to the outfield would result in changes.

Brandon Marsh has proven to be a reliable fielder and solid hitter. Nick Castellanos is starting to warm up, perhaps limiting the overall need to act. David Dahl signed a minor league contract and Cristian Pache was their platoon member against left-handed pitchers.

If Rojas returns, someone from this group will be moved, most likely Dahl or Pache, and that’s before you even factor in the possibility of an outfielder being acquired at the deadline.

One player who has been linked to the Phillies in the past is Houston Astros superstar right fielder Kyle Tucker.

With this franchise already above the luxury tax and some major decisions ahead for them financially, Philadelphia was seen as an ideal choice for the player expected to hit free agency after the 2025 season.

Dombrowski has made some spectacular moves in the past, and this would certainly be one of them.

But to do that, he would have to give up a lot to snatch the All-Star from the Astros, especially with them fighting for a playoff spot.

A major social media account has listed a possible trade package that it says could make this happen.

It would be a huge win for the Phillies to give up.

Not only would they ship out their No. 2 overall prospect, Aidan Miller, but they would also return one of their top minor league pitchers, Andrew Painter or Mick Abel, who are ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in these rankings . pipeline respectively.

Additionally, the account believes they should also trade either Justin Crawford, their fourth prospect, or Starlyn Caba, their fifth prospect.

The two teams would conduct a contract swap of sorts, with Houston taking on Castellanos and Philadelphia getting struggling reliever Rafael Montero.

This is a steep price to say the least.

However, to do something that attracts a player like Tucker, it’s going to be expensive.

The 27-year-old is a two-time All-Star, won both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger and finished in the Top 20 in AL MVP voting three times, including a fifth-place finish last season.

Additionally, the Phillies would give him another year of arbitration before he hits the open market.

Whether or not that’s something Dombrowski should consider is a different argument for another day, but it only highlights what it could actually cost to draft an impact player like Tucker for their World Series run.
