Police investigate tobacco and cigarette theft at Billericay Co-op

A man has been arrested as part of the investigation into a robbery at a co-operative in Billericay.

Essex Police received several calls to a Co-op store in The Pantiles, near Queens Park Avenue, shortly after 10.45pm last night.

During the incident, four people reportedly entered the store, went behind the counter and stole approximately £1,000 worth of tobacco and cigarettes before leaving the store.

There were no reports of injuries.

Later, a suspicious vehicle was stopped in Havering.

A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The man remains in custody for questioning.

Essex Police are also appealing for anyone who was in the area last night and observed suspicious behaviour or who has dashcam footage of the area from the night.
