Kansas woman dies after car crash in Ottawa County

A Kansas woman died in a car crash in Ottawa County on Saturday afternoon, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, Lorie Boyd, 59, from Mounds, Kansas, drove a 2019 Chevrolet Trax on US-60 at the intersection with OK-10, east of Wyandotte, around 3:30 p.m., when ignored a stop sign and slowed down at the intersection. Boyd tried to turn left in front of a 2018 Jeep Wrangler that resulted in a side collision with the Chevy Trax.

Boyd was taken to a hospital in Joplin, where she was pronounced dead by doctors. Boyd’s passenger was uninjured.

The driver and passenger of the Jeep Wrangler were treated for injuries by emergency medical services and they were released.

According to the report, everyone involved was wearing seat belts.
