Caitlin Clark draws WNBA record attendance for win over Atlanta Dream

Friday night’s WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream drew a record crowd, eager to see the highly touted rookie who captivated the sports world in the previous two women’s NCAA tournaments.

The Fever’s Caitlin Clark, along with rising star Aliyah Boston and star Kelsey Mitchell, faced off against the Dream in a sold-out match, in front of 17,575 fans in attendance.

The Dream is usually played in a 3,500-seat arena, but with Clark coming to town, the game was moved to State Farm Arena, where the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks play.

Clark and Indiana defeated the Dream by a score of 91-79 for their seventh victory of the year. The fever is breathing down the Dream’s neck in the standings, as only half a game separates the two teams, who currently occupy the last two playoff spots almost halfway through the regular season.

Having an efficient shooting night, going 6 of 12 from the floor, including 4 of 8 from three-point range, Clark had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists in the Fever victory.

Clark and The Fever started the season slowly, losing their first five games, but have since bounced back to a respectable record and are looking to step it up a gear heading into the second half of the season.
