Vicenza: Roberto Baggio was attacked and robbed in his home during the Italy-Spain match

Last night, Roberto Baggio was robbed in his home in Altavilla Vicentina while he was watching the Euro 2012 match between Italy and Spain with his family. “I express my closeness and solidarity to Roberto Baggio and his family,” said Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto Region, “and I am sure I can send him the embrace of all Venetians who made people dream with his unparalleled skills on the grass of international pitches.”

“I hope that ‘Divin Codino’, the symbolic champion of our football and of our region, a person to whom we feel close and friendly, will soon be able to recover, together with his family, from that bad evening and the injuries for which he was cared for and treated by the staff of the health facilities in Arzignano of the Ulss Berica, with whom I am in contact. The experience he had in his home, beaten and robbed by unspeakable criminals, is similar to that of other families who have unfortunately had similar experiences and, as in all cases, we trust that the criminals can soon be brought to justice,” he concluded. According to the reconstructions, the footballer tried to stop the robbers but was injured in a scuffle.
