One dead in house fire in the town of Mazomanie

MADISON, Wisconsin – One person was killed in a house fire in the town of Mazomanie Thursday morning.

According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, officers along with the Black Earth Fire Department and the Mazomanie Fire and Rescue Department responded to a fire at 10106 County Highway Y at 6:40 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said a neighbor discovered and reported the fire after the power went out in the area.

The Dane County Coroner’s Office found one person inside the home. A dog was also inside the home, but escaped unharmed.

MG&E responded to the area to assist with the power outage caused by the fire.
