Death of 80-year-old woman at Honeoye Lake is under investigation

Authorities are investigating the death of an 80-year-old woman who was found near a dock on Honeoye Lake Tuesday evening. New York State Police arrived at the scene on County Road 36 around 8:30 p.m. and discovered the woman’s body with no signs of foul play.

The woman’s identity has not been disclosed and the cause of death remains unclear.

As summer approaches and more people flock to the water, police remind swimmers to have an emergency plan and always swim with a partner.

Swimmers should also pay attention to the water temperature to prevent hypothermia.
