Charleston Co. deputies charge man with attempted murder in stabbing

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – A man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning after being accused of stabbing a man in the chest, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Rashad Kadeem Broughton, 34, of North Charleston, is charged with attempted murder.

Officers were reportedly conducting foot patrol in the 2600 block of Warm Avenue when they stopped Broughton as he walked down the street.

During a search, officers found a pocket knife. While speaking with Broughton, the victim approached officers and said he had been stabbed by Broughton earlier that evening.

The victim also had a large stab wound to his chest. He received medical treatment on site and was then taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

After further investigation, officers arrested Broughton. They discovered an outstanding warrant from the North Charleston Police Department against the suspect for trespassing.

Broughton was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
