IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant to miss all important DC games on Sunday

Rishabh Pant has made a grand comeback in IPL 2024 after a two-year absence from cricket. He fully recovered from his accident and performed well for Delhi Capitals. He scored 413 runs at an average of 41.30 and a strike rate of 156.44. He scored three half-centuries, with 88 not being his highest score. He did not perform at this level in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

DC gave him back the captaincy when he announced his comeback. In IPL 2024, DC has improved its performance and has a chance to qualify for the IPL playoffs. Now BCCI has decided to suspend Rishabh Pant for one match due to slow over rate. He had already been warned twice and when DC repeated it for the third time, Pant was suspended.

This is a big blow for DC against RCB on Sunday. Since he cannot play, the team must immediately replace him with an Indian player who can perform as well as Pant. For now, they have announced Axar Patel as captain for Sunday’s game. RCB are on a winning streak, having won four consecutive games and looking to win this to improve their chances of qualification.

DC needs to win this match to stay alive in this competition. If they lose this game they would be eliminated as they can only reach up to 12 points and GT, LSG, CSK and RCB have a chance to reach 14 points to qualify for the playoffs. Can DC overcome his absence and the big change in the middle-order batting line-up? We’ll have to wait and see.
