Shots hit house in Newark in ‘chaotic incident’

NEWARK, NY — Chaotic scenes ensued on Madison Street near West Maple Avenue over the weekend, with a home hit by gunfire.

Newark police responded to a report that a man had been assaulted. While responding, officers heard shots fired, vehicles involved, and people fleeing the scene. Police called it a “very confusing and chaotic incident.”

Officers located a vehicle with several people inside and also seized a handgun on West Maple Avenue.

Police found that a house on Madison Street had been hit by gunfire and empty shell casings had been found on the street in front of it.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
