Several dead after traffic accident in Daviess County

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Three people are dead in a two-vehicle crash in Daviess County.

According to a press release on the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the crash, which left three people dead, occurred at approximately 4:49 a.m. Monday on I-69 near the 56.5 mile marker.

The three people pronounced dead at the scene were in one vehicle, while the driver of the second vehicle was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. The current condition of that person is unknown at the time of publication.

Investigators said they are trying to identify those involved in the accident and notify family members. A reconstruction of the accident is also being conducted as part of the investigation.

According to the release, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the City of Washington Fire Department, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Cannelburg Volunteer Fire Department, Daviess County EMS, Daviess County Coroner’s Office, Indiana State Police, Briggeman’s Wrecker Service and Countryside Wrecker Service.
