Police are officially investigating a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Falls Church last April, resulting in the city’s first crash since 2010.

According to authorities, around 12:17 a.m. April 18, Barrick Tibbet’s Honda Accord collided with a trailer that was stopped with a red light in the 200 block of N. Washington Street. The trailer was being towed by a truck at the time of the incident.

Tibbets was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Medical reactors suggested that a medical event contributed to the accident. The occupants of the truck were unharmed.

The Falls City Police Department was notified last week that Tibbets, who was recovering at a nursing facility, died on May 1. The Virginia Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Tibbets’ death was caused by injuries sustained in the accident.

According to police, this incident is the first fatal accident in the City of Falls Church since 2010.
