Funeral of Jakody Davis | Teenager killed in Oakland City shooting

JaKody Davis and Lamon Freeman were best friends and were celebrating Lamon’s birthday when they were shot on July 2nd.

ATLANTA – A community will come together Monday to celebrate the life of a 13-year-old boy who was tragically killed along with his friend at a birthday party in Atlanta’s West End Apartments.

On Tuesday, July 2, just before 1 a.m., officers responded to the West End Apartments in the Oakland City neighborhood where several children had been shot.

Police said the shooting occurred as the children stood on the steps of their apartment complex at the intersection of Sparks and Peeples streets in the Oakland City neighborhood. The triple shooting left Lamon Freeman and Jakody Davis, both just 13 years old, dead. Jakody’s younger brother DJ was also injured.

Jakody’s funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at West Hunter Street Baptist Church.

The reward for information leading to an arrest in connection with the incident has now been increased to $50,000.
