Report: Illegal immigrant from Middle East charged with brutal rape of young girl in New York

An illegal immigrant who entered the United States under President Joe Biden has been charged with allegedly brutally raping a young girl in New York after threatening to beat her if she did not comply with his demands.

The Turkish national, 21-year-old Sakir Akkan, allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl on May 14 after threatening to beat her with a metal pipe if she did not get into the back seat of the car he was driving.

After the girl got into the vehicle, he drove to a secluded area, ripped off her clothes and raped her, the Albany Times-Union reported. She suffered injuries when she tried to stop the man from raping her, the report said.

Akkan, who was released into the United States by the Biden administration late last year, was arrested last week and charged with first-degree rape.

The newspaper said police “did not issue a press release or warn the public after the young girl was abducted on New Scotland Avenue. It appears to have been a random attack.”

The police department claimed that it had done nothing improper or unusual by failing to alert the public that a dangerous sex offender was on the loose in the area.

“If a threat to the public had been perceived, appropriate information would have been released,” a spokesperson claimed. “To the extent that publication or reports of sexual assaults and arrests that do not pose a threat to the public are made, these are generally not released to prevent re-traumatization of the victim.”

However, the newspaper noted that the agency’s claim was inconsistent with its previous actions, as it had published information about sexual assault and rape in the past, including just weeks after the girl was raped.

The agency claimed that its decision not to issue a statement had nothing to do with the fact that the suspect was an illegal immigrant.

A person involved in the investigation who was not authorized to speak on the record sharply criticized the agency’s decision not to release information, suggesting it was a cover-up related to his immigration status.

“If an asylum seeker who abducts a child (on a public street), rapes her and then walks free is not a threat to public safety, what is a threat to public safety?” the person said.

Albany County Representative Frank Mauriello issued a statement sharply criticizing the agency and accusing it of trying to cover up the story.

“A 15-year-old girl was raped by an ILLEGAL ALIEN in the city of Albany and the public is not informed?” he posted on X. “We’re supposed to believe the city government didn’t cover this up? Bullshit. This is a national story. What the hell happened here?”
