Soud and Asmaa Kanan of Sharon, Pennsylvania, arrested for $1,600 beverage coupon fraud

ALLIANCE, Ohio (WKBN) – A Mercer County man and woman were arrested Wednesday night in an investigation into an Ensure nutritional supplement drink coupon scam. Police say they were accused of fraudulently stealing $1,600.

The City of Alliance Police Department announced on Facebook that Soud Kanan, 27, and Asmaa Kanan, 25, were arrested just before 7:30 p.m. at a Marc’s store in the 2400 block of West State Street in Alliance. Police said Soud and Asmaa Kanan both reside in the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue in Sharon.


According to police, the man and woman are being investigated for a coupon scam in which they allegedly fraudulently stole more than $1,600 worth of Ensure products from Marc’s and Meijer stores on June 11.

Officials said the man and woman also had hundreds more packages of Ensure in the back of a Penske truck. Police said the products were believed to have been obtained illegally from Marc’s stores in Boardman and Salem.

The Alliance City Police Department said the investigation is ongoing. Police said Soud and Asmaa Kanan are both charged with repeated complicity in theft by deception, which is a felony.
