Huntsville dog attack victim says she lives in fear | News

Dog attack

WAAY 31 heard from a woman who said she was attacked by vicious dogs and ended up in hospital. She claims she lives in fear as the dogs still roam freely on the streets.

Mindy Donahue said, “I came — went down here to my house — and two bulldogs from across the street. I’m across the street. I came across the street and hit one of them with my headlamp, but the other one grabbed my arm and they both attacked me. I thought I was going to die.”

Donahue recalled the day she was brutally and viciously attacked by two dogs on her street. She was injured so badly that she was taken to Crestwood Hospital.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene of the accident on Baltimore Hill Road and Madison County Animal Control eventually took control.

However, Donahue said that since the attack, nothing has been done about the dogs that terrorized her and the street.

“The main problem is that it’s not safe for people to walk past there and the dogs. And I think there should be a leash law and you should keep your animal under control and not attack people like this one did,” Donahue said.

Donahue said these dogs have been aggressive in the past.

“They have bitten two other people before me. I have contacted animal control twice and nothing has been done,” Donahue added.

She pleads for something to be done for these dogs before someone else gets hurt again.

Donahue added: “Anyone can be hurt or killed by this, and something needs to be done about it. But if it had been my little three-year-old grandchild or an elderly person, they would be dead.”

She intends to take legal action and hopes that animal control will soon reassure her and her neighbors.

“And I want to sue the owner and whoever I have to sue to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else because it has affected me physically and mentally,” Donahue said.

We reached out to Madison County Animal Control for comment but did not receive a response.
