Ohio sex offender arrested after attempting sexual relationship with child

NOBLE COUNTY, OHIO (WTRF) — A Level II sex offender from Ohio is back behind bars after allegedly immediately beginning a sexual relationship with a minor less than a month after his release from prison, according to Noble County authorities.

According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Christopher White of Noble County was released from prison on June 25, 2024, “but hasn’t wasted too much time getting back into prison.”

Investigators said they found that White allegedly exchanged nude photos with a minor and sent messages confirming his sexual intentions.

On July 17, officials said, White arranged to meet the teen in Caldwell, Ohio, where he planned sexual activity but was met by Sheriff Jason Mackie and detectives.

When White arrived in the area, the team was able to arrest him immediately.

“During an interview, White admitted that he intended to have sex with the juvenile, but claimed that it was not his style to solicit juveniles. White’s previous convictions for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor tell a different story,” said Sheriff Mackie.

According to authorities, White also admitted that he failed to report his place of work to the sheriff’s office, which is required for registration on the sex offender registry.

Christopher White was arrested and taken to the Noble County Jail where he was held without bail.

On July 18, 2024, detectives indicted Christopher White before the Noble County Grand Jury on charges of distribution of materials harmful to minors (a fifth-degree felony), possession of criminal tools (a fifth-degree felony), harassment (a fourth-degree felony), and notification of change of residential address (a third-degree felony).

Officials say White has been charged on all counts and remains in the Noble County Jail.
