Thunderstorms expected in the mountains today

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – It will be a dry start to the day as storms are expected north of Atlanta this afternoon.

Storms are expected this afternoon

It will be dry in North Georgia this morning, but that will change this afternoon. A wave of showers and storms is expected to move southeast through the mountains of North Georgia this afternoon and evening, particularly as you drive home from work.

Most storms are expected to remain in the mountains, but isolated storms could reach as far south as Atlanta as you drive home from work today.

FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAY for storms on Friday and Memorial Day

Throughout Memorial Day weekend – today through Monday – there is at least a chance of thunderstorms every afternoon. The days you’ll be most affected in the Atlanta metro area are Friday and Memorial Day, both First Alert Weather Days.
