14-year-old girl in Jharkhand raped for two days by underage lover and his six friends

Dhanbad (Jharkhand): A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her underage lover and six of his friends within two days in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, a police official said on Wednesday.

A complaint has been filed against seven people at the Dhansar police station, about 160 kilometres from the state capital Ranchi, and raids are being carried out to nab the accused, he said.

Manoj Pandey, superintendent of Dhansar police station, said that the accused not only raped the girl, but one of the accused also filmed the act on a mobile phone.

“We found the cell phone at the crime scene,” he said.

According to the victim, her lover called her at his apartment on Sunday evening and raped her together with a friend.

After committing the crime, the defendant locked her in a room.

The next evening, she was raped in a bush near the house by five more of her lover’s friends, the victim told police.

After hearing the girl’s cries for help, locals went to the scene of the accident, but by that time all five boys had already fled, the police officer said.

“When we searched the house of the girl’s lover, we found no one there. We are also trying to find out the whereabouts of the victim’s family,” he said.

Pandey said the girl was taken to a hospital for medical examination.

The victim was later taken to a home for her protection on the instructions of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
