Family identifies forklift driver killed in accident at Walmart facility in Fort Worth

A forklift driver was killed in an accident at a Walmart distribution center in north Fort Worth Friday morning, officials said.

A Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman said the woman appeared to have been crushed between a forklift and a pallet rack and died at the scene.

The accident occurred at the Walmart distribution center at 15101 N. Beach St.

The woman’s family identified her as Elena Rios.

The Varghese Summersett law firm is representing the family, according to a statement from the law firm.

“On Friday morning, Elena Rios, mother of four and grandmother of 13, was tragically killed in a Walmart forklift accident,” attorney Ty Stimpson said in the statement on behalf of the family. “Elena was employed at Walmart for 10 years and was certified to operate forklifts and other heavy machinery.

“The family first learned of the accident through the news and received conflicting information about the incident,” Stimpson said Friday afternoon. “They engaged the law firm of Varghese Summersett to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident surrounding the untimely death of their family’s matriarch. Elena, 68, was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She planned to attend her granddaughter’s softball game this afternoon after she finished her shift at Walmart. Unfortunately, she never had that chance.”
