Man arrested for kidnapping and child abuse in Athens after series of hit-and-run accidents

ATHENS, Georgia – Athens police are accusing a Lawrenceville man of kidnapping and abusing a child.

Shortly before 5 a.m., police responded to a reported kidnapping in the 200 block of Highland Park Drive.

During their investigation, officers found the suspect’s vehicle following a series of hit-and-run accidents on Westchester Drive.

The child was found by officers and taken to the hospital.

Police arrested 19-year-old Jehron Keys and charged him with kidnapping, child abuse, sexual abuse, reckless driving, three counts of hit and run, failure to maintain lane and unsafe tires.

Their investigations are ongoing.
