New York Police Department (NYPD) officers stormed Kissena Park in Queens as police searched for the monster who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old Asian girl in a remote location in the urban oasis this week.

Eight NYPD patrol cars and a mobile operations center were stationed at the park’s entrance at Juniper Avenue and Colden Street, while officers in pairs searched the park on foot and on horseback and community police plastered the area with wanted posters.

Father Alankar Ngar, who was in the park with his 14-year-old daughter, said the parents were scared.

“Everyone has been on edge since the news came out because we all have small children playing here and it happened during the day,” said the 48-year-old. “You can almost understand it if it happens at night, but it happened during the day when we can tell our children they can play freely. It’s scary.”

Local resident Anna Zheng, 50, said she was saddened by the attack.

“I feel so bad and so unsafe,” said Zheng, 50, who lives in the area. “I am very shocked.”

The girl and a 13-year-old boy were in a field in the park around 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the man approached them and forced them into a secluded area with a “large machete-like knife,” police said.

He then tied the classmates’ wrists with a shoelace and sexually abused the girl. He told them to wait 20 minutes, stole both of their cell phones and fled.

The pervert was described as a short, light-skinned man in his twenties with short curly hair and braces.

He also has a distinctive wild boar or bull tattoo – with red eyes and horns – on the left side of his chest.

According to police, the children returned to their school after the horrific incident and alerted staff, who called 911.

A 30-year-old man who gave his name as Steve has lived on the edge of the park for six years and said there should be more police officers present there at all times.

“I am worried about my wife and the children here, there are a lot of children,” he said.

Queens resident Rehan Safri has lived in the neighborhood for two decades and said he had never heard of an incident like this one that was so horrific.

“I’m surprised that this happened – I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this in the last 35 years, nothing like this has ever happened,” said the 36-year-old. “It’s sad, it’s really sad.”

Father Vikas Rohilla was at the park with his 8-year-old daughter and said there were more parents with their children in the park than usual.

“This is the park where all the kids from the neighborhood come to play,” said the 40-year-old. “It used to be full of kids all day long, but now parents come with their kids.”

He was worried that there might be another attack.

“How do we know this won’t happen again?” he asked. “If it does happen, how can our children play safely on the playground?”
