Porsche accident in Pune: Trending

The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune granted bail to a 17-year-old, just hours after his speeding Porsche rammed a bike, killing two people. The agency reportedly asked the minor to work with the traffic police for 15 days and write a 300-word essay on traffic accidents to secure his release on bail. This news sparked outrage among people, with many calling for stricter measures.

The youth, the son of a contractor in Pune, was driving an unmarked car. According to reports, he hit the motorcycle with his vehicle around 2:30 am in Kalyani Nagar area.

Following the incident, a case was registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police also arrested his father and filed a complaint against the bar for serving alcohol to a minor.

The Pune police have arrested the father of the accused. In addition, the authorities arrested the restaurant owners and the employee who served alcohol to the minor.

“My client was arrested in a case registered at Yerawada police station. The honorable court was kind enough to grant my client bail subject to certain conditions. We have full confidence in the investigation and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement. My client is obliged to comply with the strict requirements of the court of honor. We will continue to attend the proceedings and await the outcome of the investigation,” the minor’s lawyer Prashant Patil told HT.

In addition to serving in the traffic police and writing an essay, JJB also ordered the minor to seek proper treatment from a doctor to quit alcohol and undergo psychiatric counseling.

The victims have been identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, both 24 years old, engineers and originally from Madhya Pradesh. They were reportedly on their way home from a party when the horrific incident occurred.
