Jon Jones pleads not guilty to drug test charges

Pleads not guilty to the charges

… in case of a drug test

UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is not giving up his ongoing legal battle … and is pleading not guilty to the two misdemeanor charges against him related to a failed drug test earlier this year.

Jones – who appeared virtually in court in New Mexico – was charged earlier this week with assault and interference with telecommunications … after a testing agent claimed he made threats and took away their cellphones when they showed up unannounced at his Albuquerque home in March.

As we previously reported, two drug testing agents from the UFC’s anti-doping partner, Drug Free Sport International, went to Jones’ home to take a urine sample…but in a police report, one of the agents told authorities that Jon became agitated because he was unable to provide a urine sample.

The agent – identified as Crystal Martinez – told Albuquerque police she was “terrified” after Jones got in her face and was “afraid Jones was going to hit her.”

The woman claimed Jones was upset about how early they had come… and at one point in the conversation he said, “You know what happens to people who come to my house? They end up dead.”

Jones denied the allegations and said in a now-deleted Instagram post that while he was frustrated, he did not make any threats.

“I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my house after the testing session, where we high-fived and hugged each other. Although I was frustrated by the unprofessionalism and used foul language out of frustration, it ended in a friendly and amicable manner, not at all threatening.”

Jones will be free pending trial after a judge granted his attorney’s request at his court hearing on Wednesday.
