A new documentary looks at the history of sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey

An upcoming two-part documentary will examine the abuse allegations against actor Kevin Spacey, and a new trailer offers a first look at the series.

Investigation Discovery, a network specializing in true crime documentaries, shared the trailer for Spacey exposedon Wednesday morning.

According to the official description Spacey exposed “will examine never-before-heard experiences and emotional testimonies surrounding allegations against the Oscar-winning actor dating back over three decades to 1981,” including “first-hand accounts from several men who have not previously shared their stories publicly have.”

In 2017, actor Anthony Rapp was the first to claim that Spacey made sexual advances towards him when he was 14 and Spacey was 26. In response, Spacey released a statement in which he said he could not remember the incident described by Rapp and apologized, saying, “If I then behaved in the way he describes, I owe him the most sincere debt.” Sorry.” Spacey also came out as gay in the same statement, a move that was widely criticized as a distraction from the bombshell allegation.

Dozens of other people subsequently came forward to claim that Spacey had sexually harassed, assaulted or attempted to rape them. According to USA Today, five of his accusers said they were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents. In 2022, a jury in a civil trial found that Spacey did not sexually assault Rapp, to which Rapp responded that “a courtroom is not a safe place for trauma.” Although he was also charged with multiple sexual assaults in the UK, he was found not guilty in 2023.

One day after the announcement of Spacey exposedIn 2011, it was announced that Spacey would return to a British court next year after an anonymous man filed a lawsuit against him alleging sexual assault, claiming he had “suffered psychiatric harm and other financial losses.”

During a recent appearance on right-wing YouTuber Dan Wootton’s show Dan Wootton candidlySpacey commented on the allegations against him. “I take full responsibility for my past behavior and actions,” he said. “But I cannot and will not take responsibility or apologize to anyone who made up things about me or told exaggerated stories about me.”

Spacey exposed is set to premiere May 13 on Investigation Discovery and will also be available to stream on Max.
