Police identify teenager killed in weekend shooting at gas station in northwest Oklahoma

Oklahoma City police are searching for suspects accused of killing a 17-year-old at a supermarket over the weekend.

Police said several people were seen running from the store in northwest Oklahoma City after the fatal shooting.

Police identified the victim as 17-year-old William Jackson. Investigators said Jackson died inside the store.

The Express Gas and Grocery store became a crime scene Saturday afternoon. Initial reports indicated that the store employee was the victim of a robbery. When police arrived at the scene near Wilshire Boulevard and Northwest Expressway, they learned that the employee witnessed a fight inside the store. Several shots were fired during the altercation.

“Upon arrival, they found a dead gunshot victim inside,” said Captain Benjamin Weir of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

According to police, Jackson was involved in an altercation with three people. It is currently unknown what sparked the altercation, what it was about, or whether the victim knew the suspects.

“Multiple weapons were used in the incident,” Weir said.

According to police, the three suspects fled the store and are still at large. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene and investigators have recorded surveillance videos from the area.

“We’re trying to get as much information as we can, collect as much evidence or video surveillance footage as we can from that area to figure out exactly what happened and who exactly was involved,” said Sergeant Dillon Quirk of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police said the investigation was still at an early stage and it was not yet known whether the suspects were juveniles or adults.

The public can call the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200 if they have information about the shooting.
