Two women die in car crash on M-53 in Metro Detroit

(CBS) – Two women, ages 63 and 88, were killed Wednesday on southbound M-53 in Shelby Township when their vehicle was struck from behind.

According to police, the accident occurred around 12:52 p.m. near 22 Mile Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 33-year-old man was traveling on M-53 when he collided with another vehicle near a construction site. The two women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver was taken to a hospital and arrested on two counts of traffic violations resulting in death.
