Cyclist struck and killed in San Jose; Driver Arrested – NBC Bay Area

According to police, a speeding driver ran a red light at an intersection in San Jose on Tuesday morning and fatally collided with a cyclist.

The driver, who was a man, was arrested after the collision at Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway, police said.

Police Sgt. Jorge Garibay said the driver was behind the wheel of a red truck speeding west on Capitol Expressway when he ran a red light and hit the bicyclist and another truck traveling north on Senter Road.

The cyclist, also a man, died at the scene of the accident, Garibay said.

An investigation is ongoing.
