ASI suspended over transgender TikTok video – Pakistan

CHINIOT: A police officer has been suspended from duty for helping a transgender person make a TikTok video in the Station House Officer (SHO) office.

District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmad noticed a TikTok video that went viral on social media in which a transgender is seen sitting on the official chair of the SHO in Chiniot City police station and recording a video. The video triggered a negative reaction from the public who perceived it as an insult to the police uniform whose chair is used by a transgender.

The DPO suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector Inayatullah Niazi for allegedly facilitating transgender person Chirya Baloch to create the video and launched an investigation into the matter.

Mohsin Hassan, district police spokesperson, said DSP City Shahid Gujjar will conduct the investigation and identify those responsible.

On the other hand, Chirya Baloch asked the DPO to apologize for making the video. In a video message, she said that the Punjab Police has always listened to and solved the problems of transgender people and set up a shelter center for them. She said that she made a mistake by making the video and asked the police department to forgive her for her act.
