Boy loses legs in Georgia train crash; “Outlook is not very positive”

ROME, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Rome police say a teenager lost both legs in a train accident early Friday morning.

At around 3:30 a.m., police were called to the railroad crossing on East Callahan Street, where they found the teenager unconscious.

He was hit by a train and both of his legs had to be amputated.

The officers provided medical assistance to the teenager until emergency services arrived.

He was taken to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, where he is still alive – “although the outlook is not very rosy,” police said.
