Man sexually abuses girl who has been placed under his wife’s guardianship

A 57-year-old man was sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually abusing the child his wife had taken under guardianship. It began when the girl was 14 years old and lasted from 2021 to 2023, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the accused’s wife was the girl’s guardian. At the same time, the man, as a family member, also had a duty to care for, protect and educate the minor. It was established that in 2021-2023, the man regularly forced the girl to have sexual intercourse with him, displaying inappropriate and illegal physical and verbal behavior towards her.

The girl’s psychological examination revealed signs specific to children who have been victims of sexual abuse, physical and emotional abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

When he found out that the victim and his wife had filed a police report, he ordered them to withdraw the report and threatened them with death. He said he would then “cut them to pieces”.

The defendant pleaded not guilty. He is in custody and will serve the 11 years in a semi-closed prison. The verdict can be appealed.
