1 dead in accident on I-70 near downtown Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 70 near downtown Sunday evening, according to Columbus police.

Shortly before 10:20 p.m., officers were called to an accident on I-70 West near the Interstate 71 off-ramp at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

At around 10:35 p.m., the death of a person was confirmed at the crime scene.

The ramp from I-70 West to I-71 North is closed due to the investigation. Traffic is being diverted to I-71 South. It is unclear how long the ramp will be closed.

The crash remains under investigation.
