Ford Maverick recall due to accident risks caused by failed taillights

Ford has issued a recall affecting approximately 242,000 Ford Maverick trucks because taillight malfunction increases the risk of a car accident.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall of the Ford Maverick on April 30 after the manufacturer found that the vehicles could potentially disable one or both taillights. This can affect the visibility of the vehicle for other road users.

Ford has determined that the Body Control Module (BCM) was miscalibrated, causing it to incorrectly detect a current overload in one or both taillight circuits. The manufacturer warns that this may cause the taillights to go out while driving, increasing the risk of an accident that could result in serious injury.
