Motorcycle accident in Des Plaines: Nico K. Watkins, 31, of Glen Ellyn killed in hit-and-run on Elmhurst Road, police say

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) — A man was killed in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident in the northern suburbs early Saturday.

The accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. at 967 S. Elmhurst Rd. in Des Plaines, police said.

Nico K. Watkins, 31, of Glen Ellyn, was traveling at a high rate of speed on his motorcycle when he was involved in an accident with another vehicle, according to Des Plaines police.

The motorcycle struck a sedan that was leaving a parking lot and turning onto Elmhurst Road, police said.

When Des Plaines Fire Department officials arrived, Watkins was found unconscious in the street, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2018 Ford sedan, fled the scene of the accident on foot, police said.

A portion of Elmhurst Road was closed due to the ongoing police investigation, but has since reopened.
