Heat warning for New Jersey, perceived temperatures reach almost 100 degrees

A heat warning is in effect for New Jersey from today through Tuesday, as temperatures of 35 to 38 degrees Celsius are expected on these two days.

It’s another heat wave as we are now on the fourth day of highs over 90 degrees. Humidity is very high and the muggy and humid weather is expected to continue all week, so feels like temperatures are over 95-100 degrees.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible Tuesday evening, but heavy tropical rain is possible afterward in northwestern New Jersey due to residual moisture from Hurricane Beryl.

Most of Beryl’s energy will be concentrated in northwestern New Jersey, but some of it will move through overnight Wednesday into Thursday, dumping several inches of rain on northwestern areas of the state, creating the risk of flooding.

This forecast is still uncertain, as the exact direction of the remaining moisture may change and move closer to New Jersey. If that happens, it may increase the risk of flooding. It is important that we monitor this closely today and tomorrow.

The weather behind the remnants of Beryl looks very “Florida-like,” with mostly sunny days and occasional evening thunderstorms, high humidity, and hot temperatures.
