LAVALETTE, WV (WOWK) – A local business is assisting a grieving family this week in hopes of easing the financial burden despite the tragedy.

Giovanni’s Pizza in Lavalette is one of many in the Wayne and Cabell County communities helping the Paynter family. Raelyn Paynter, 17, died in a crash in Wayne County on Tuesday. Her sister, 15-year-old Reece, was seriously injured in the crash and is still hospitalized, a relative says. The youngest sister, 13-year-old Laney, was treated and released from the hospital.

The girls are the daughters of Pastor Jason Paynter and Michelle Paynter of Huntington. Jason Paynter is pastor of Good Shepherd Holiness Church in Huntington.

According to Giovanni’s, the Lavalette restaurant will donate 20% of its sales to the Paynter family on Friday, June 21, between 11 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

In addition to this fundraiser, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses and medical bills.
