(COLORADO SPRINGS) – A man who allegedly attempted to force his way into a home was arrested after police used chemical munitions, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Police said officers were called to the 2700 block of Monica Drive West, near South Academy Boulevard and Hancock Expressway, on Wednesday, June 19, for a domestic violence incident. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Lance Colson, allegedly attempted to break into a home in the area and had a knife.

When police arrived, Colson allegedly ran into a shed in the backyard of the home and police learned that Colson was wanted on a warrant for stalking. Colson allegedly told officers they would have to shoot him. After lengthy negotiations, the man could not be convinced to leave the shed and police said they were unable to reach a peaceful resolution.

According to CSPD, chemical munitions were used, Colson left the shed and was taken into custody without further incident.
