Jamestown police investigate arson | wgrz.com

Shortly after 7 a.m., Jamestown firefighters and police were called to a residence on Fulton Street for a report of a fire.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Mayville man is in custody following a structure fire in Jamestown on Sunday.

Jamestown firefighters and police were called to a residence on Fulton Street just after 7 a.m. for a reported fire.

Police officers found a victim with serious injuries from the fire near the home. Police said the victim jumped out of a second-story window to escape the flames.

This person was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital for treatment and later transferred to another hospital for treatment of burns.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be arson.

Following an investigation, police have one person in custody. Eric A. Courtier, 34, is charged with first-degree arson. He is currently being held without bail.

The victim’s current condition is still unknown.
