Mesa and Garfield County, including Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – An air quality warning is in effect for Mesa County and Garfield County in western Colorado until 9:00 a.m. Monday. These include areas around Grand Junction, Fruita, Glade Park, Palisade, Clifton, Orchard Mesa, Redlands, Parachute, Rifle and Glenwood Springs.

The Kings Canyon Fire on the Uncompahgre Plateau west of Glade Park and about 15 miles southwest of Fruita is emitting smoke. That smoke is expected to settle in the Grand Valley this evening.

Air quality could deteriorate and become dangerous, especially for people with respiratory or heart diseases.

It is best to avoid being in the smoke. If you must go outside, limit the time you spend outside and do not do anything too strenuous.
