16 Palestinians killed, dozens more injured in several parts of Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are attacking targets in several areas in the Gaza Strip, the social media platform X said on Tuesday.

Sixteen Palestinians were killed and dozens injured, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The report said Israeli forces had announced plans to take action against the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement and targets of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Gaza City, where the army has been stationed for several days. “So far, the forces have eliminated dozens of terrorists,” the army said in a statement.

Six people were killed in an Israeli attack on a building in the city, WAFA reported. Rescue workers managed to rescue a small child alive. There were also further attacks on the city in the north of the coastal region, some of which were fatal, the report said.

The Israeli forces said they were also continuing their operations in the Shejaiya district of Gaza City and in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, where numerous terrorists were also killed.

Israeli forces forced doctors at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City to close the hospital, WAFA reported, citing medical sources. After the area around the hospital came under heavy shelling, all patients and displaced people housed there were forced to leave the hospital.

The Israeli military denied this and said that civilians had been asked to leave the combat zones in Gaza City as a precautionary measure. However, the call did not refer to hospitals and medical facilities.
