Homeless man pleads not guilty in Santa Monica attacks

A homeless man accused of attacking two women and a 17-year-old girl on Santa Monica Beach pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges Tuesday.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Jawann Dwyane Garnett, 31, attacked the teenager and then battered a 25-year-old woman who tried to intervene in the attack on June 24.

Immediately afterwards, he allegedly grabbed a 72-year-old woman and dragged her to the sea, where he allegedly pushed her head into the water several times, according to the public prosecutor’s office.
