Suspect charged in fatal shooting of three family members in Houston | Upper Gulf Coast

HOUSTON, Texas — Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shootings of two women and a man at 10580 Hammerly Boulevard on Saturday.

Bryan J. Fernandez Hernandez, 27, is charged with capital murder in the 183rd State District Court. The identities of the deceased women, ages 65 and 43, and the deceased man, 38, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division Detectives M. Barton and K. Amri reported that HPD patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a home invasion in progress at an apartment complex at the above address. Fernandez Hernández, who initially claimed to have shot three burglars, was later determined to have shot three family members inside the apartment and then called 9-1-1.

Further investigation revealed that the eldest woman in the family was living in the apartment, while the other two family members had been staying there and visiting for several days. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Fernandez Hernandez was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
