Marion County woman killed in motorcycle-deer crash

MARION, Ohio – A 38-year-old Marion County woman died Saturday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident involving a deer shortly after midnight Friday.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Marion Post, the accident occurred at 12:18 a.m. Saturday on Ohio 37 in Marion County.

The accident involved a Harley Davidson FLHTKL Ultra Limited Low (model year 2018), driven by Jason
M. Edwards, 51, of Marion. The rear passenger was Danielle N. McCormack, 38, of Larue.

Police said neither of them was wearing a helmet.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Edwards was traveling north on Ohio 37 when a deer wandered into the road. Edwards’ motorcycle struck the deer, causing the Harley Davidson to tip onto its side.

Edwards was transported by Marion Township EMS to Marion General Hospital with
serious injuries. McCormack was transported to Marion General Hospital by Scioto Valley Emergency Medical Services with life-threatening injuries.

Edwards and McCormack were later flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Police said later Saturday that McCormack had succumbed to her injuries and
pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scioto Valley Fire Department and EMS.
Marion Township EMS and Ron’s Towing.

The accident is still being investigated, police said.
