ACTION 8 UPDATE: Police identify woman shot near downtown Montgomery

UPDATE ON ACTION 8: Police have now identified the woman who was shot near downtown Montgomery on Sunday.

According to police, 40-year-old Shayla Jones and another woman were shot around 3:45 p.m. in the 900 block of South Union Street, near Interstate 85.

According to police, the other woman’s injuries are probably not life-threatening. She was taken to a hospital for further treatment.

Police have launched an investigation into Jones’ murder.
